These are endangered animals and as a matter of fact tiger hunting continues today because the body parts can be sold for a lot of money and many people would like to have tiger’s coat under their feet instead of a carpet. Several traditional medicines use tiger parts as a cure for all kinds of illnesses, from pimples to toothaches. Unfortunately, wildlife organizations and animal protection services are too understaffed and underfunded to effectively counteract the onslaught of poachers and corrupt officials. It has been estimated that every day poachers take at least one animal and the number of wild felines continues to diminish.
