These animals are very powerful and beautiful; being second only to the Siberian subspecies in size. Adult males of this species reach the length of 3 meters and weigh up to 230 kg; females are smaller, reaching 2.5 meters and weighing about 140 kg. These animals start hunting on their own and become independent from the mother at the age of 1.5 years. Females become reproductive at 3-4 years of age; males mature by age of 4 years old.
