These are nocturnal animals; they hunt mostly at night. These animals are carnivores, they eat animals. As a rule females of these wild cats are smaller than males. The adult male can get up to ten feet long, from the end of its tail to its head. It can weigh up to 575 pounds. They are solitary territorial animals and one male can occupy a territory of 200 square miles. Females also maintain home ranges, although they are much smaller than males’. Males prefer not to fight with other males and usually avoid direct contacts. They mark their territory by spraying urine, and can produce loud roars audible 2 miles around. These felines have long hind legs that enable them to make long and high jumps.
