Bengal Tiger Cubs

Bengal tiger cubs are difficult to find at rescues, as there are few breeders involved in the bengal cat. Kittens become independent at the age of 18-20 months, but they reach sexual maturity at 3-4 years. When the mother has another litter, the young leave her and find their own home ranges. Females stay close to the mother's range than males. These animals have keen eyesight and a good sense of smell, but they cannot run for a long time. They usually hunt at dusk and at dawn and spend 18 hours each day sleeping. They rarely climb trees, but can swim very well. The average litter size of this species is 2-3 babies; the largest litter contains 5 babies. They are blind and helpless and one or several of them die at birth or at a very young age. The mother feeds them milk for 6-8 weeks; then they are able to eat meat. After 8 weeks, they start learning the art of hunting, and by age of 6 months they are capable of killing small and medium-sized game. All this time, they stay in contact with their mother and follow her on hunting trips. Males do not take part in raising the young. Bengal tiger cubs are difficult to find at rescues, as there are few breeders involved in the bengal cat.
