These wild felines occupy a great variety of habitats. They live in open jungles, humid evergreen forests, and mango grove swamps. They are territorial animals and one male can occupy a territory of 200 square miles. Males maintain larger home ranges than females. They are solitary hunters, and feed on deer, antelopes, pigs, buffalo, young elephants and gaurs. Sometimes, they capture smaller game, such as birds, lizards, frogs and fish. Being nocturnal animals, they prefer to hunt at dusk or at dawn.

White Bengal Tiger Habitat -
photo, pictures
It is thought that the origin of the cat family is Siberia. These animals migrated down south from Siberia when the climate became colder. Nowadays these wild cats can be found mainly in India and Malaysia. There are reserves and sanctuaries in Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Burma. On April 1, 1973, when there were less than 2,000 species left in the world, the Indian government accepted a program aimed at the establishment of a network of reserves and sanctuaries.
